I got a call this morning from the ACLJ, with a recorded message from attorney Jay Sekulow wanting me to sign their petition for the latest attempt to remove the words, "under God" from the pledge of allegiance. The latest complaint by attorney and self proclaimed atheist Mike Newdow from the Freedom from Religion Foundation, according to Mr. Sekulow's message, is that having children recite the pledge of allegiance in school is not only unconstitutional, but "abusive"....
Oh! Come on!! What the heck are these people SO afraid of? I mean, really? "ABUSIVE"??!! IF they are such "free thinkers" why is it NOT okay for some to "think" that God and religion are a viable option? IF they are "atheists" and don't believe in the existence of God, why are they SO afraid to have His name mentioned in any form in any public area? In what way is it "fair" and "equal" to Christian Believers to NOT be able to express their thoughts and beliefs in the same way that these "free thinkers" do? I ask again, WHAT are they afraid of? If your kid doesn't believe in God or feels so "threatened" in reciting the pledge of allegiance than let the kid sit it out. No big deal. I really don't think that it's fair to pass a law to completely eradicate a part of our nations history, in order to appease a minute "few" that claim that this is a problem. Some people have WAY too much time on their hands....
